EARTH DAY 2023 IN THE WOODS
Saturday, April 22 – 11 am to 1:30 pm
Earth Day is an internationally recognized annual event celebrated on April 22nd to demonstrate support for environment protection. First held in 1970, Earth Day now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EarthDay.org including the involvement of 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.

For this 1st Earth Day in the Woods there was the participation of residents, event sponsors and LFII staff to plant over 70 new trees and 250 ground cover plants. All this effort helped to stabilize the hillsides to minimize ongoing erosion issues, to improve the trails and paths of travel, and to enhance the physical and aesthetic qualities of the forests to make it a more attractive environment to be in.
Refer to below for more detailed information provided for our 2023 Earth Day in The Woods Celebration.
When. The Celebration will be on Saturday, April 22nd, starting at 11:00 am and going to about 1:30 pm.
Where. The gathering spot will be at the forest’s entrance at the bottom end of Lake Forest Park (next to La Madera Elementary School) off of Serrano Road between Lake Forest Drive and Ridge Route Dr. This location can also be accessed at the bottom of the stairs at the end of Fall Creek Circle or by using the San Diego Creek forest trail from any of its access points north of Toledo.

Donate a Tree. Tree planning is a major part of the LFII Earth Day festivities. The more trees the better. To help with this effort, there is the opportunity for those so inclined to DONATE A TREE to LFII. Your purchase of this tree to then donate to LFII to be used as part of the Earth Day tree planting program will be greatly appreciated. Details on how to purchase the tree and the cost is available at www.lf2recreation.org – Earth Day 23.
